The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has shared impressive outcomes regarding smart traffic enforcement for the first half of 2025. They recorded a staggering 401% increase in processed traffic violations compared to the first quarter, coupled with a response rate that hit 60.4%. This progress signals a significant shift in the effectiveness of institutional security operations.
Sultan Al Malik, who is the Director of the Security Department at PCFC, commented on this achievement, emphasizing that it represents more than just numerical growth. He stated that it exemplifies a broad strategic vision that has successfully turned the concept of smart enforcement into a practical approach that benefits all stakeholders involved. The results from the initial half of the year underline the success of combining modern technology with on-ground enforcement teams, enabling more accurate and proactive measures.
Throughout the first half of 2025, the division dealt with a total of 1,971 traffic-related violations. These included issues like abandoned vehicles, illegal waste disposal, and unauthorized land usage. Out of these violations, 992 were resolved efficiently. Additionally, the division's environmental response rate was commendable, achieving a 100% resolution rate within 48 to 72 hours of incidents being reported, all while maintaining a record free of critical incidents.
In terms of managing ongoing traffic concerns, at the conclusion of the first half of the year, there were 651 active cases, which represented 39.6% of all cases handled during that period.

100% environmental response? Is this rate accurate? Who does the monitoring?

39.6% of all cases handled? How long are cases open? Not very impressive

60.4% response rate? What about the other 40%? That still leaves a lot of issues unresolved!
