Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the details of ending the ongoing conflict and war.
Zelensky also referenced a previous phone call with Trump, describing it as lengthy and substantive. This call, which lasted over an hour and a half, included other European leaders. A significant portion of the call, approximately an hour, was dedicated to a one-on-one conversation between Zelensky and Trump.
Ukraine has expressed its commitment to working towards peace. Zelensky voiced support for Trump's proposal to hold a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. He emphasized the suitability of a trilateral format for addressing key issues at the leadership level.
Furthermore, Zelensky highlighted the importance of European involvement in the peace process. He stressed the need for European countries to participate in order to secure reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, alongside the United States.
The earlier phone call also included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General Mark Rutte, and leaders from Italy, Germany, Finland, France, Poland, and Britain. Meanwhile, Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Friday in Alaska, where they discussed the situation, though no formal agreement was reached.

Trump's involvement? Really starting to doubt this is about peace and more about political games.
