The International 2025 will kick off with Team Liquid defending their title, facing off against BOOM Esports in the opening match. Valve announced the schedule on Tuesday, setting the stage for the tournament's commencement.
The group stage will utilize a Swiss system, featuring sixteen teams. Each team's performance will dictate their matchups in subsequent rounds.
Other notable opening matches include a clash between two-time champions Team Spirit and Wildcard. Tundra Esports, who secured third place last year, will compete against Yakutou Brothers, a late addition to the tournament. Team Falcons, fresh from their Esports World Cup victory, will go up against Team Nemesis. Additionally, NAVI, the 2011 champions, will begin their journey against Team Tidebound.
The top three teams from the group stage will secure direct advancement to the playoffs. Teams finishing between fourth and thirteenth will participate in an elimination round to determine the final five teams that will join the double-elimination bracket playoffs.
The event is scheduled to begin on Thursday in Hamburg, Germany. The group stage will run through Sunday, with the playoffs taking place from September 11th to 14th.
The initial prize pool for The International 2025 has been set at $1,934,476. This amount will grow as 30 percent of the revenue from each Supporter Bundle purchased is added to the total.
