A traffic incident on the M60 has led to significant delays and long queues on the motorway. Police are currently investigating the situation, and traffic cameras show the extent of the congestion.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed that the incident involved a collision between a lorry and a bridge earlier this morning. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. The vehicle has been safely removed, and an inspection determined that the bridge sustained no structural damage.
The cause of the incident has been identified by GMP as a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) colliding with the Lostock Circle bridge on the M60, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
National Highways estimates that the ongoing event will clear between 4:15 PM and 4:30 PM, which should improve traffic flow. However, normal traffic conditions are expected to return between 2:45 PM and 3:00 PM as lanes remain closed near the clockwise exit slip at junction J9. Traffic continues to build up around junction nine of the M60. Google Maps indicates that traffic is also backing up on the anticlockwise side of the motorway, with queues extending towards Prestwich. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
A GMP Trafford spokesperson has urged drivers to avoid the area and anticipate delays due to the ongoing traffic incident near the junction of Lostock Road and the M60 motorway.

Typical! Another M60 gridlock. This happens every other day!

They should have the lanes back open quicker, and it's gonna be at least 60 mins before the backlog clears
