In Bihar, the Congress party has recently informed the election commission about approximately 89 lakh complaints concerning inaccuracies in the voter lists. However, the state's Chief Election Officer (CEO) clarified that the party did not comply with the established procedures that govern the submission of objections regarding voter lists.
The CEO's official statement, released on social media, indicated that local Congress leaders had sent letters to District Election Officers requesting the removal of almost 8.9 million individuals from the electoral rolls within the last couple of days. It was further explained that deletions can only occur following the guidelines set forth in the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, which stipulate the use of Form 7 for such requests. Political parties' Booth Level Agents are permitted to file objections, but must do so in accordance with the legal framework established in the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
Furthermore, the CEO emphasized that the information provided in Congress's complaint was still under review and unverified. According to the CEO, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will eventually decide on the legitimacy of the deletions requested by Congress, but any changes to the voter list will necessitate sworn affidavits and thorough examination of the claims.
During a recent press conference, Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the election commission of failing to acknowledge the complaints the party submitted. He suggested that there was misinformation suggesting that no objections had been filed by any political entity, highlighting a lack of acceptance from election officials regarding the complaints filed. Khera confidently stated his belief that Congress would emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly elections, asserting that the public is now aware of what he termed a fraudulent mandate.
In addition to the Congress party's efforts, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation has lodged a total of 118 claims and objections concerning the electoral rolls, including requests for both exclusions and inclusions of names. The deadline for filing such claims and objections concluded on September 1.

Congress claims they will win the elections, but they can’t even manage their own voter objections! Sounds like hollow promises to me.

Every political party should watch over the electoral process. Kudos to Congress for their vigilance!

It's laughable that Congress tries to portray themselves as victims here. Accountability shouldn't be too hard to grasp.

Pawan Khera is right to raise concerns. Transparency is key in our electoral process!

Why is Congress trying to blame the election commission? They clearly failed to submit their objections correctly.
