Between August 15th and August 23rd, a series of enforcement operations targeting vaping were carried out across Singapore at various pubs, bars, and KTV lounges. These operations resulted in the apprehension of 195 individuals for offenses related to vaping.
During the operations, law enforcement seized over 340 vapes and associated components. The individuals caught were aged between 17 and 61. Further investigation revealed that eleven pods, belonging to six individuals, contained etomidate, a substance often found in drug-laced vapes.
In addition to the vaping-related arrests, authorities also apprehended 13 other individuals, comprising ten men and three women, aged between 19 and 47, for separate offenses.
The joint enforcement efforts involved a total of 16 operations, conducted by all seven police land divisions and the Criminal Investigation Department. The Central Narcotics Bureau and the Health Sciences Authority provided support. Over 270 officers were deployed to inspect more than 1,600 individuals across 151 public entertainment venues. These operations are part of a broader government initiative to combat vaping.

Glad to see them cracking down. Vaping is a gateway to harder drugs for some.

Maybe these people have a different stress coping mechanism... like some people eat and drink tons.

The discovery of etomidate is very concerning. This takes vaping to a dangerous level!

Finally! Someone is taking this seriously. This will prevent all the secondary effects of vaping.

Another heavy-handed crackdown. Seems like overkill to deploy THAT many officers.
