In eastern Pakistan, a massive rescue operation is underway following severe flooding caused by days of heavy rainfall. Relief officials reported that nearly half a million people have been displaced as rivers swelled to dangerous levels. The situation has prompted a large-scale effort to evacuate those stranded by the rising waters.
The flooding has primarily impacted Punjab province, which shares a border with India. Three major rivers that flow through the region have reached exceptionally high levels, leading to widespread devastation. Over 2,300 villages have been affected by the overflowing rivers and subsequent flooding.
According to Nabeel Javed, the head of the Punjab government's relief services, 481,000 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas. In addition to human evacuations, 405,000 livestock have also been rescued. The total number of people impacted by the flooding exceeds 1.5 million.
Irfan Ali Khan, the head of the province's disaster management agency, described the operation as the largest rescue effort in Punjab's history. The rescue mission involves over 800 boats and more than 1,300 rescue personnel. The focus of the evacuation efforts is on rural areas located near the banks of the three rivers.

So sad about this emergency. My heart goes out to those displaced. I hope people are getting the help they need.

East Pakistan? This article seems outdated or geographically confused. It states Punjab in the text.

A large scale rescue shows that the local government is well organized and taking things in their hands.

800 boats? Sounds impressive, but what about clean water, food, and medicine for the displaced? Empty gestures.
