Bayern Munich narrowly secured a 3-2 victory against Augsburg in their Bundesliga match on Saturday. The team nearly faltered, allowing two goals for the second consecutive game after establishing a 3-0 lead shortly after the break.
Bayern's defense displayed vulnerabilities, mirroring their performance in the German Cup first-round win against Wehen Wiesbaden, where they conceded two goals and required a late goal to advance. Coach Vincent Kompany acknowledged the areas needing improvement, emphasizing the importance of converting the numerous scoring opportunities created. He noted that while the second half wasn't solid, the team had won all their games and scored many goals. Kompany also mentioned the team's short pre-season as a factor.
While the match unfolded, Bayern's management was reportedly attempting to finalize a loan deal for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, although Kompany stated he was unaware of the situation.
Bayern, who have topped the Bundesliga since the third matchday of the previous season, now have two league wins from two matches, with a total of nine goals scored. They dominated the game early on, taking the lead in the 28th minute with Serge Gnabry's header. They extended their lead just before halftime with Luis Diaz's goal.
Bayern appeared to have secured the win when Michael Olise scored three minutes after the restart. However, Augsburg responded with goals from Kristijan Jakic and Mert Komur, creating a tense finish. In stoppage time, Augsburg's Robin Fellhauer was stretchered off after a collision with Bayern's Sacha Boey.

Short pre-season or not, Bayern cannot afford to give away leads like this. It’s just not acceptable!

Kompany should stop making excuses. A short pre-season isn’t an excuse for poor defending!

First two games, two wins, and nine goals scored! That's impressive and a great start!

In football, not every victory comes easy. It's good to see them be tested and still WIN!

Yes, there are defensive concerns, but Bayern's fight is what counts! They didn't give up.
