A 53-year-old tourist from the Philippines, who had a pre-existing medical condition, has died after falling into a coma while riding an attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. Initial investigations indicate that the incident was not related to any safety issues with the ride.
The Hong Kong Disneyland Resort reported on Saturday, August 30th, that the guest lost consciousness on the Frozen Ever After ride around 10 am the previous day. He was later pronounced dead at 11:30 am after being transported to a hospital. The deceased was confirmed to be a man from the Philippines. His wife discovered he had fallen into a coma during the ride and immediately alerted the staff.
According to a resort spokesperson, cast members provided immediate assistance, including CPR, while the ride vehicle was approaching the docking area. The man was then rushed to North Lantau Hospital. The resort expressed deep regret over the guest's passing and pledged to offer support to his family.
Police received a report at 10:18 am and learned from the man's wife that he had a pre-existing medical condition. Local media reports indicated that the man had a history of heart disease and high blood pressure, requiring regular medication and medical check-ups.
The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong confirmed the incident and stated they were working with local authorities to assist the family with repatriating the body. The consulate offered condolences and assured continued support while respecting the family's privacy.
The Frozen Ever After ride, part of the World of Frozen land that opened in late 2023, is accessible to guests of all ages and heights. The official app advises against pregnant women riding it. The attraction is a dark, water-based, slow-moving ride with small drops, featuring advanced animatronics of characters like Anna, Elsa, and Olaf.

Disney should have stricter guidelines in place for people with pre-existing conditions. This could have been avoided.

It’s sad to hear, but attractions can be dangerous for those not in good health. This shouldn't be a surprise.

This is more of a cautionary tale about taking risks with pre-existing conditions. People need to be more cautious.
