Zoe Burns found the back of the net twice, propelling AFC Toronto to a 2-0 victory against Calgary Wild FC on Saturday at York Lions Stadium. This win solidified AFC Toronto's position as the top team in the Northern Super League.
Burns' first goal came during first-half stoppage time. She received a pass from Esther Okoronkwo and unleashed a shot from just inside the box. The ball deflected off a Calgary defender and found its way into the net.
Her second goal arrived in the 47th minute. Following a teammate's header from a free kick delivered by Emma Regan, Burns once again fired the ball from inside the box, extending Toronto's lead.
This match marked only Burns' second start of the season. The win was crucial for Toronto (11-6-2) as it ended a two-game winless streak. Calgary (6-10-2), on the other hand, faced its second consecutive loss after a previous two-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Toronto is scheduled to play Halifax on September 6th. Calgary will travel to Vancouver on the same date.

Still early in the season, don't get ahead of yourselves. It's just one game.

AFC Toronto's still not playing that attractively. Just winning is boring.
