Following the Alaska summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, the implications for the resolution of the Ukraine conflict and the US-Russia relationship are becoming clearer. It appears that the end of the conflict is possible, but it will not come through a ceasefire, which aligns with the views expressed by Putin and now seemingly supported by Trump. However, this stance is met with strong opposition from the Ukrainians and their European allies, who have a differing outlook.

Ukraine, currently experiencing severe political and economic fragmentation and notorious for high levels of corruption, is unable to navigate its way out of the ongoing crisis.
