According to a source, there's a real feeling that reconciliation is possible. The source indicated that Prince Harry's team and the Palace have begun communicating. There's optimism that the father and son will meet when the Duke returns to London in September.
Harry, who is 40 years old, last saw his father in February 2024. This was when the King announced his cancer diagnosis. The prince traveled from his home in Montecito, California, for a meeting with his father that lasted less than an hour.
They haven't seen each other since then. In May, after losing his court appeal concerning his UK security, Harry told the BBC that his father "won't speak" to him because of the court case. It's unclear if this has changed, especially since Harry and the King's aides were seen having an informal meeting recently.
While Harry will be in the UK on September 8, Meghan Markle is not expected to join him. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly staying in California with their children, Prince Archie, who is six, and Princess Lilibet, who is four.

Optimism is misplaced here. The royal family doesn't change overnight.

Everybody knows the royal family does public relations better than genuine emotions.

Let’s not kid ourselves; this feels less about father-son bonding and more about optics.

It's about time! I really hope they can find common ground after all this time.

Harry may be trying to play nice, but the Palace won’t easily forgive the past.
