Fuji TV has initiated legal action against two former executives, seeking ¥5 billion in damages. The lawsuit stems from the alleged mishandling of a "sexual violence" scandal involving former TV personality Masahiro Nakai. The broadcaster alleges that the actions of the former executives contributed to significant financial losses.
The lawsuit specifically targets Koichi Minato, the former Fuji TV President, and Toru Ota, the former Executive Vice President. Fuji TV claims they failed to adequately address the situation when the alleged sexual assault was initially reported. This included a failure to conduct a thorough investigation and implement necessary preventive measures.
The legal filing, submitted to the Tokyo District Court, asserts that the two former executives bear responsibility for a portion of the company's financial losses. The company had accrued nearly ¥45.3 billion in losses by June 30.

How productive is suing former employees going to be? It feels like they're just trying to shift the burden onto someone else.
