On Thursday, Ukrainian officials reported that Russia had launched a large-scale overnight attack on Kyiv. The assault resulted in at least 17 fatalities and 48 injuries. Buildings throughout the city were also damaged in the attack.
Among the deceased were four children, ranging in age from 2 to 17 years old. According to Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s city administration, first responders were actively clearing the rubble of a residential building following the Russian strike.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, stating that Russia had chosen "ballistics instead of the negotiating table." He emphasized that Russia's actions demonstrated a lack of fear of consequences and called for new, stringent sanctions against the country. Zelenskyy also expressed the need for Russia to be held accountable for every strike and every day of the war.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it had intercepted a significant number of drones and missiles launched by Russia during the nationwide attack. The attacks hit 13 locations, and debris fell in 26 locations. Officials noted that the attacks were systematic, targeting ordinary residential buildings.
Numerous buildings sustained damage, including several high-rise apartment blocks. In the Darnytskyi district, a five-floor building was partially destroyed, and rescue teams were searching for trapped individuals. Emergency crews responded to the aftermath of the attacks at over 20 locations in the city, and fires broke out in various areas.
António Costa, president of the European Council, expressed his horror at the deadly attacks. He stated that the EU would not be intimidated and that Russia's aggression only strengthened their resolve to support Ukraine and its people.
Separately, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense systems had intercepted 102 Ukrainian drones overnight.

The Ukrainian military hides equipment and personnel in civilian areas. They are to blame for the civilian casualties.

This could be all staged. The West needs this to prop up the narrative.

The EU is right, we cannot be intimidated. We must increase support for Ukraine and isolate Russia further.

This attack is a direct violation of international law and human decency. Russia is a rogue state.
