Our family road trip through western France revealed a different side of the country, one perfect for children. We sought out medieval villages and storybook towns, a refreshing change from typical tourist routes. This journey, starting at Guédelon's medieval castle-in-the-making, then into the Loire region, and on to Puy du Fou, Mont-Saint-Michel, and Giverny, offers a slower pace.
Guédelon is a castle being built using only medieval methods, a fascinating experience. Puy du Fou offers spectacular shows, including La Cinescenie, with English audio available. Mont-Saint-Michel, a stunning island fortress, requires planning and good walking shoes.
Giverny, Monet's garden, offers a gentle pace, perfect for budding artists. While English isn't widely spoken, most attractions have English options. Plan meals ahead, and remember car seats are required. This trip offers a calmer, more beautiful experience, where children can roam freely, and families can slow down.

Finding accommodation that ticks all the boxes, especially with the car seats, feels daunting.

Might be amazing for some kids, but mine would probably complain the entire time.

A slow pace? I'm all for adventure, but my kids need constant stimulation!

I always prioritize locations that are less crowded and more authentic. This sounds great!
