Typhoon Kajiki and the subsequent flooding have resulted in eight fatalities, with one reported in Thailand and seven in Vietnam. Vietnamese authorities have issued warnings regarding the potential for further flash floods and mudslides.
The storm made landfall in Vietnam on Monday afternoon, subsequently weakening into a depression. Its impact has been felt across both Vietnam and Thailand, leading to widespread flooding and landslides.
In Thailand, heavy rainfall has triggered floods and landslides across eight provinces, impacting over 180 households. Vietnam has also suffered significant damage, with over 10,000 homes and offices affected by the flooding. Additionally, more than 86 hectares of rice and cash crops have been damaged.
The storm has also caused disruptions to the power grid, resulting in blackouts that have affected 1.6 million people, primarily in the provinces of Ha Tinh and Nghe An. The capital city of Hanoi has also experienced severe flooding, coinciding with preparations for the country's National Day parade.
The national weather forecast agency anticipates continued heavy rainfall in northern provinces, with some areas potentially receiving up to 70 millimeters of rain within a few hours. The agency has cautioned about the potential for flash floods and landslides, which could negatively impact the environment, endanger lives, and disrupt economic activities.
Prior to its landfall in Vietnam, Typhoon Kajiki passed along the southern coast of China's Hainan Island on Sunday, prompting the closure of businesses and public transport in the resort city of Sanya.

The loss of crops is devastating, but who's going to help the farmers? We need solutions, not just reports.

The response to this disaster seems so slow. People are suffering while authorities are still issuing warnings.

It’s ridiculous that storms like this still catch us off guard. More proactive measures are needed!

Let's focus on community support and relief efforts instead of placing blame. The people affected need our help!

This is a clear indication of poor urban planning. Flooding shouldn't be a default condition for these regions.
