Mondo Duplantis, the world record holder, secured his fifth consecutive Diamond League pole vault final victory on Wednesday. Katie Moon also claimed the women's title, preparing to defend her world crown in Tokyo the following month.
In other events, American Joe Kovacs emerged victorious in the men's shot put competition. Local favorite Simon Ehammer thrilled the crowd at Sechselautenplatz, Zurich's largest square, with his win in the men's long jump.
Duplantis, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, successfully cleared 6.0 meters on his fifth attempt. Emmanouil Karalis of Greece matched his effort, but neither athlete could clear 6.10 meters, giving Duplantis the win based on countback. Duplantis, who recently improved his own world record to 6.29 meters in Budapest, now has five Diamond League trophies.
Reflecting on his performance, Duplantis acknowledged the variability of his form, stating that he doesn't break world records every day. He expressed his enjoyment of the street event and his ambition to catch up to Renaud Lavillenie and Christian Taylor, who share the record of seven Diamond League trophies.
Moon secured her victory by clearing 4.82 meters on her sixth attempt, surpassing fellow American Sandi Morris. This win earned her a second Diamond League trophy. She credited the crowd's energy for her success and expressed her confidence heading into Tokyo, where she aims to retain her title.
Kovacs, a three-time Olympic silver medalist, won the men's shot put title with a throw of 22.46 meters, defeating his compatriot Payton Otterdahl. Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands won the women's event. Kovacs expressed his satisfaction with the win and his eagerness to return home to his family.
Ehammer's third attempt of 8.32 meters secured his victory in the men's long jump, edging out Italy's Mattia Furlani. In the women's high jump, Australia's Nicola Olyslagers took the win, clearing 2.04 meters.

Street event? Seems like a cheap imitation of the real deal at the Tokyo Olympics coming ahead.

Another Duplantis win? Snooze. Needs some fresh blood in the pole vault.

Good for Duplantis, but when is someone going to challenge his dominance?
