On August 27, Israel officially requested a global hunger monitoring organization to withdraw its claim that Gaza City and nearby areas are experiencing famine, arguing that the report is "deeply flawed." This appeal occurred just prior to a UN Security Council meeting, where 14 out of 15 council members unanimously issued a statement condemning the ongoing crisis in Gaza as a product of human actions.
The joint statement emphasized that employing starvation as a tactic of warfare contravenes international humanitarian laws. It urged an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire, as well as the liberation of hostages, and insisted that Israel lift all barriers to aid supplies. The members stressed the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis, asserting that famine in Gaza must be halted without delay, insisting on a change of course by Israel.

Unconditional access to aid is a basic human right! Israel must lift the barriers immediately.

It's naive to think that lifting barriers would solve anything. Security comes first!
