Authorities are currently investigating potential cases of gastroenteritis at the PCF Sparkletots Preschool located at Mountbatten Block 92. The investigation involves multiple agencies.
As of Monday, August 25th, a total of 24 students and two staff members had reported symptoms of gastroenteritis. These symptoms began to appear on Saturday. Fortunately, none of the affected individuals required hospitalization. All students and staff members who experienced symptoms have since recovered and returned to the preschool.
The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) is actively monitoring the situation. They are collaborating with the preschool operator to ensure the well-being of the children. The preschool has also been reminded to adhere to all relevant guidelines for infection prevention and control.
PCF Sparkletots Preschool has acknowledged the incident. They have stated that the health and safety of the children is their top priority. The preschool is conducting its own investigation and exercising caution. They are committed to the well-being of every child in their care and will remain vigilant.
Preschools are obligated to follow the food hygiene standards outlined in the Early Childhood Development Centres code of practice. The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is working closely with ECDA to promote and reinforce safe practices within preschools. Food safety is considered a shared responsibility. While SFA enforces regulatory measures, food operators are expected to uphold good food safety practices. SFA has stated that they will take action against any food operators who fail to comply.

Were the food vendors checked? What if the source of infection is external?

I hope they'll find the cause quickly and take steps to prevent any further incidents.
