American Tourist Stabbed in Germany, Criticizes Immigration Policies After Attack

An American tourist, John Rudat, a 21-year-old model from New York, was stabbed in the face while intervening to protect two women on a tram in Dresden, Germany. He was rushed to the hospital for surgery after suffering knife wounds. The attack reportedly involved a 21-year-old Syrian national, who was initially arrested on suspicion of assault. However, one of the alleged attackers was later released from custody, while an accomplice remains at large.

Rudat, still recovering from his injuries, expressed his frustration with the situation. He stated that one of his alleged assailants, whom he described as an immigrant and an illegal one, was released by German authorities. He questioned the law and structure, highlighting the perceived disparity in how German citizens and immigrants are treated.

The US embassy in Germany issued a statement urging authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and punish them to the fullest extent of the law. A GoFundMe page has been created to support Rudat's recovery, raising over £30,000 in donations. The page details how Rudat, having recently completed paramedic school and worked as an EMT, intervened to protect the women. He sustained critical injuries, including a deep facial wound from a six-inch blade, necessitating extensive surgery.
