John Rudat, a 21-year-old American tourist from New York, suffered a facial stab wound during a violent incident in Germany while trying to help two women being harassed on a tram in Dresden. According to a fundraiser launched by his brother’s girlfriend, Molly, Rudat bravely intervened when he noticed the women were being threatened by two Syrian men. The attack left him injured with a six-inch blade wound, and as he begins his recovery, he faces significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges.
German authorities apprehended a 21-year-old Syrian in connection with the assault but subsequently released him due to insufficient evidence linking him directly to the stabbing. Senior Public Prosecutor Jürgen Schmidt stated that the knife attack could not be attributed to the suspect. Following the incident, Rudat, who recently became a paramedic and also works part-time as a model, expressed his frustration regarding the leniency shown towards immigrants involved in violent behavior against German citizens.
In a social media post, Rudat openly criticized the immigration policies in Europe, highlighting the lack of accountability for individuals who engage in criminal acts yet seem to evade strict legal repercussions. He emphasized that despite German citizens being held to strict laws, individuals like his assailant, seen as illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds, are quickly released. The U.S. Embassy in Berlin condemned the attack and called for swift justice, urging that safety should be a collective responsibility for all.

I stand with John. It's frustrating to see violent offenders being released while victims suffer.

Stabbing is horrific, but don't make it a commentary on immigration. Let's treat the root problems, not scapegoat.

It's sad that he feels this way, but using this situation to criticize immigration policies is counterproductive.

It’s important to recognize the bravery of people like John who risk their own safety to defend others.

Why do people always want to vilify immigrants? There are plenty of native-born criminals as well.
