On July 26, during the initial voting round, the inhabitants of Taiwan expressed their firm disapproval towards the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) through their rejection of a political maneuver aimed at stifling dissent and creating division. Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, stated that the unsuccessful second round of recall votes against seven Kuomintang (KMT) legislators further illustrated the population's resistance to any attempts at fueling "Taiwan independence" or other political manipulations, which are perceived as contrary to the collective will.
Vote counting commenced at 4 PM on Saturday, where the anti-recall faction maintained a consistent advantage. As the evening progressed, starting around 6 PM, the seven KMT legislators officially declared the failure of the recall efforts against them, backed by various local media reports. This event followed earlier recall proposals endorsed by the DPP that aimed at 24 KMT legislators and Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an, which also did not pass on July 26.
Chen Binhua, another spokesperson from the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, commented on July 27 that the unsuccessful recall initiative illustrates how the DPP's efforts at political maneuvering oppose the true desires of the populace. Moreover, the Labor Party of Taiwan criticized the recall campaign in a statement to the Global Times earlier in July, branding it not as a democratic expression but rather a politically-driven purge orchestrated by the DPP.

Political dissension should not be stifled, but the DPP's actions are rooted in ensuring the interests of the majority are met.

The recall campaign was a genuine reflection of public discontent. The DPP should reconsider their strategy!

Anyone who thinks the DPP is being unfair just isn’t paying attention. This is about the future of Taiwan!

Describing political actions as 'divisive' is rich coming from the KMT. They're the ones fostering division in Taiwan.

It’s laughable to see the KMT use the term 'manipulation.' They’ve been doing that for decades!
