China Dominates VICTOR China Open 2025, Feng and Huang Defend Mixed Doubles Title

Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping of China successfully retained their mixed doubles title at the VICTOR China Open 2025, securing the championship on Sunday. The Chinese team dominated the tournament, winning gold in all other four categories in advance, with the exception of men's doubles.

Feng shared that despite the familiarity of the competition, the feeling of victory is always unique, prompting them to approach each match with full effort. Huang highlighted their consistent improvement, particularly their ability to resolve challenges during matches, which they considered their most significant advancement.

According to Liu Yu, a sports commentator, the pair's success stems from their adaptability and in-match adjustments. He explained that the rapid pace of badminton necessitates quick thinking, and Feng's comment about problem-solving referred to their handling of crucial moments.

In the semifinals held on Saturday, the Chinese team had already secured both gold and silver medals in men's singles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. The team won all six semifinal matches in the first three categories, with the only loss occurring in an internal match between Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui. This ensured China's dominance in the men's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles events.

Wang Zhengxing, a young men's singles player, delivered an impressive performance, defeating Denmark's Anders Antonsen to reach his first high-level final. Shi Yuqi, a top men's singles player, continued his strong form, advancing to the final for the second consecutive week.

In the women's singles semifinals, Han Yue of China defeated South Korea's world No.1 An Se-young. An retired due to a knee injury. Liu noted Han's commendable performance in the first game, highlighting her delicate net play and adaptability. He also praised her composure and decision-making skills against a top opponent.

The men's doubles final was the only event without Chinese participation. The remaining Chinese duo, Liang Weikang and Wang Chang, were defeated by the Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the semifinals.
