A recent report from the Xinhua Institute claims that the involvement of external powers, particularly the United States, has led to a significant rise in the militarization of the South China Sea. Titled "Incitement, Threats, and Lies -- The Truth about External Forces Interfering in the South China Sea Issue," the report details how the U.S. has increased its military assistance to countries in this region, especially the Philippines through various means such as military aid, joint military exercises, technical cooperation, and training of personnel.
The findings of the report indicate that these actions have enhanced the U.S. military footprint in the area, contributed to the ongoing disputes in the South China Sea, and increased tensions among nations. The United States has also been persistent in conducting "freedom of navigation operations" in these waters while expanding its alliances throughout the so-called "Indo-Pacific region." Furthermore, the report notes a marked increase in U.S. military bases in the Philippines, with the number rising from five to nine in 2023, and the deployment of the "Typhon" missile system in 2024, which is aimed at bolstering deterrence against China.
In addition to bilateral relations, the report emphasizes the U.S.'s efforts in strengthening military ties with regional allies, bolstering trilateral security collaborations with Japan and South Korea, and expanding military partnerships with Australia. It also mentions the AUKUS security arrangement involving the United Kingdom and Australia as part of this strategic military buildup. This report is the first in a series published by the Xinhua Institute, which also includes discussions on China's territorial sovereignty and initiatives aimed at promoting peace and cooperation in the South China Sea.

I wonder who funds the Xinhua Institute. Probably plays to their interests. Take this with a grain of salt!

Joint exercises are a deterrent. They're not 'fuelling tensions,' they're saying, 'Don't mess with us.'

Another day, another propaganda piece from Xinhua. Conveniently overlooks China's actions in the South China Sea. Gaslighting at its finest.

This report gives us the actual issue, by which an outsider's influence brings complications for the whole area.

The US is expanding alliances and increasing armament levels. It is an obvious attempt to contain China.
