No Planned Meeting Between Russia and Ukraine Leaders, Says Top Russian Official

In a recent interview with NBC News, a high-ranking Russian official clarified that no discussions are arranged between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine. This revelation poses a setback for President Trump's attempts to facilitate an agreement to end the ongoing conflict between the two nations, as stated by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey V. Lavrov.

During his appearance on "Meet the Press," Lavrov emphasized that before a meeting could take place, there needs to be a clear agenda, which, according to him, is currently lacking. This statement follows President Trump's declaration of success at his recent summit in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir V. Putin, where Trump implied that an agreement was reached for a future meeting between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. However, Lavrov's comments suggest that the possibility of such a summit is far from realization, contradicting the White House's previous assertions of an imminent meeting.
