In the aftermath of a deadly bridge construction incident in Qinghai, the provincial government has assembled an investigation team to probe the accident that occurred last Friday. This unfortunate event resulted from a steel cable breaking during a tensioning procedure, leading to the collapse of a 108-meter steel girder arch rib at the construction site of the Xining-Chengdu Railway in Jainca county, situated within the Huangnan Tibetan autonomous prefecture.
As of 6 pm Friday, officials confirmed that twelve workers had lost their lives, with four others reported as missing. At the time of the disaster, there were sixteen workers present at the site. The project will now be scrutinized by a team comprising four specialized units that will cover coordination, technical analysis, management review, and evaluation of the rescue operations.
The inquiry aims to produce a detailed report explaining the circumstances surrounding the accident, including accountability and potential disciplinary and legal measures. Additionally, the Office of the Work Safety Commission under China's State Council has developed a working group alongside relevant bodies to oversee the investigation's progress, as noted by the Ministry of Emergency Management on Saturday.

The system failed these workers, and now they think an investigation will save face. Pathetic!
