On Saturday, Zhi Shi and Zhi Ma, two giant pandas, opened their new pavilion to the public in Harbin, Heilongjiang province. These 8-year-old males, whose names mean "cheese" and "sesame" in English, were relocated from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Sichuan province earlier this month.
Following a period of quarantine for health checks and acclimatization to their surroundings, the two pandas have now become accustomed to their new home. Their caretakers have been providing them with a diet of fresh bamboo and assorted fruits, ensuring they maintain a healthy lifestyle. According to the breeders, both pandas have adapted well to their new environment and are following a regular schedule that includes time for eating, exercising, and resting. Additionally, the cool weather in Harbin is proving to be ideal for their living conditions.

They should prioritize wildlife conservation measures instead of moving pandas back and forth.

I worry about how the relocation affects the pandas' well-being in the long term.
