China Reiterates Stance on Ukraine Crisis, Calls for Dialogue and Negotiation

Responding to media inquiries regarding the Ukraine crisis and China's stance, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated China's position has been consistent and clear. China is not the originator of the crisis nor a direct participant. From the outset, China has maintained an objective and fair position, strongly supporting peace talks and negotiations.

President Xi Jinping proposed a four-point plan. This plan emphasizes respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, adhering to the UN Charter's principles, considering the legitimate security concerns of all countries, and supporting all efforts that facilitate a peaceful resolution. Mao Ning highlighted the increasing practical significance of these principles. China has also issued a position paper on the political settlement of the crisis, dispatched special envoys for multiple rounds of diplomatic efforts, and initiated the Group of Friends for Peace on the Ukraine crisis at the United Nations, advocating for peace and dialogue.

China is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in advancing a political resolution to the crisis, in alignment with the involved parties' wishes and in collaboration with the international community, according to Mao.

At the press conference, a reporter inquired about speculation regarding a potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky within two weeks, possibly during Putin's expected visit to China in early September. Mao Ning declined to comment on hypothetical scenarios.

In response to questions about President Zelensky's willingness to meet with President Putin and reports of a potential trilateral summit involving the US, Ukraine, and Russia, Mao Ning reiterated China's belief that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable paths to resolving the Ukraine crisis. China supports all efforts that promote peace.

How can China take a neutral stance when it's clear they have their own agenda? This is just another attempt to play both sides.

Supporting negotiations while being buddies with Putin just doesn't add up. China needs to choose a side!

China's involvement in the UN peace process is a joke. They only want to prolong the conflict for their own benefit.

Mao Ning's comments seem disingenuous. If China really wanted peace, they would pressure Russia to withdraw.

Is anyone else tired of China's empty promises? Actions speak louder than words, and they're doing very little for Ukraine.
