Early Sunday morning, a shooting at a Brooklyn club resulted in three fatalities and eight injuries, according to reports from NBC News, citing the New York City Police Department. The incident occurred overnight.
The location of the shooting was identified as the "Taste Of The City Lounge" in the Crown Heights neighborhood. New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed the details during a press conference, stating that officers received calls about the shooting shortly before 3:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
All three individuals who died at the scene were male. Police confirmed their pronouncements of death at the location of the incident.
Preliminary reports suggest the shooting was triggered by a disagreement within the crowded venue. Investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene.
Commissioner Tisch indicated the involvement of multiple shooters. The police investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
Eight other individuals, comprising five men and three women, are receiving treatment at hospitals for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Commissioner Tisch described the event as a "terrible shooting" that took place in New York City.
