Several cities in Sichuan Province, located in Southwest China, are currently preparing for the upcoming regional amateur football league. The province is planning to launch the "Bashu Xiongqi" Sichuan Amateur Football League, also known as Chuanchao, in September.
East, North, West, and South. These zones will encompass 21 cities and prefectures. The women's division will be split into northern and southern zones.
The league's initial launch, originally scheduled for June, was postponed to allow for more thorough preparation and to ensure a better experience for both players and spectators. The season is planned to continue until 2026.
To be eligible to participate, players must have been born on or before December 31, 2009, and possess Sichuan provincial household registration. Individuals without registration must have worked in Sichuan for at least one year. University students studying in the province are permitted to represent any city or prefecture. Players registered with a professional club in 2025, including those in the Chinese Super League, China League One, China League Two, Women's Super League, or Women's League One, are ineligible.
In Leshan, a city in southern Sichuan, trials have begun with 54 players selected from over 150 applicants. Wei Qun, formerly the captain of the Sichuan Quanxing club, has been appointed as the head coach of the Luzhou team. Luzhou has also finalized a list of 30 players for the inaugural Chuanchao season.
Inspired by the Jiangsu City Football League, other regions are also establishing their own amateur leagues. These include Jiangxi Province in East China and Gansu Province in Northwest China. The aim is to cultivate grassroots football talent and revitalize local sports culture.

The exclusion of professionals from the top leagues is understandable, but what about those who play at a lower pro circuit? They shouldn't be excluded?
