The number of fatalities resulting from a flash flood at a campsite in Inner Mongolia, northern China, has reached 11. Emergency authorities reported the tragic increase on Wednesday, also noting that one person remains unaccounted for.
The disaster occurred on August 16th, around 10 p.m., in the upstream region of a river located in Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur City. The sudden flood left 13 campers missing and resulted in the destruction of four vehicles.
One individual has been successfully rescued. Over 1,600 rescue personnel are actively engaged in search operations at the site.
The Ministry of Emergency Management has called for comprehensive efforts to find the missing person and has deployed a work team to oversee the rescue operations. Furthermore, the ministry has issued a warning to travelers, urging them to avoid undeveloped wilderness areas and to exercise extreme caution in areas prone to geological hazards, particularly during the flood season.
