A federal judge has made a ruling concerning the migrant detention facility referred to as "Alligator Alcatraz" located in the Florida Everglades. U.S. District Judge Kathleen M. Williams issued a preliminary injunction today, allowing the facility to continue its operations; however, this comes with strict limitations that prevent any expansion or the admission of new detainees. The order specifically prohibits any installations of additional industrial-style lighting and imposes a timeline for the facility to remove all supportive equipment related to its operations, such as generators and waste disposals, within the next 60 days, due to violations of the National Environmental Policy Act.
In a separate legal matter, former President Donald Trump expressed his approval over a New York appeals court's decision to overturn a civil fraud judgment against him. Taking to Truth Social, Trump labeled the ruling as a "TOTAL VICTORY" in relation to the case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. He characterized the case as a politically motivated attack and criticized the trial process, emphasizing that he was not afforded a jury and felt unrepresented throughout the legal proceedings. The trial, which was ruled to be a bench trial solely decided by a judge, did not allow for a jury review because of the nature of the remedies sought.
