Orlando Pride announced the signing of winger Lizbeth Ovalle from Liga MX club Tigres Femenil. This transfer represents a world-record fee in women's soccer.
The transfer fee for Ovalle reached $1.5 million, as confirmed by a club source. She has signed a two-year contract with an option to extend it until 2028.

Ovalle is scheduled to participate in the inaugural Liga MX Femenil All-Star Game against Barcelona before finalizing her move to Orlando.
Ovalle expressed her excitement about joining Orlando Pride, stating her ambition to win titles and make a significant contribution to the club. She is eager to give her best and help Orlando Pride maintain its position as a leading team.
During her eight-year tenure with Tigres Femenil, Ovalle became the club's all-time leading scorer, accumulating 136 goals and 103 assists in 294 appearances. She played a crucial role in the team's six Liga MX Femenil titles. Additionally, she has earned 81 caps for Mexico, scoring 20 goals, and played a key role in their 2023 Pan American Games gold-medal victory.
The 2024 NWSL champions, Orlando Pride, currently hold the third position in the standings after 16 games, trailing leaders KC Current by 12 points.

$1.5 million?! For women's soccer? Seems excessive. Where's the money going?
