China is preparing to unveil a variety of its advanced military weaponry during the V-Day parade scheduled for September 3, as confirmed by Major General Wu Zeke, a senior figure in the military. He noted that all displayed hardware has been domestically produced and actively used in service, emphasizing that this event will serve as a comprehensive presentation of the new-generation weaponry since the last National Day parade in October 2019.
This grand military parade will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the broader World Anti-Fascist War. It marks the 19th military parade held since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 and represents the second V-Day parade. The ceremonies will feature a variety of troops, including those from the People's Liberation Army, the People's Armed Police Force, as well as militia and reserve forces, all of which will march along Chang'an Avenue in Beijing for President Xi Jinping.
The 70-minute celebration will include various segments such as troop formations, demonstrations of flags, and displays of military hardware, with new models of main battle tanks and fighter jets taking center stage. Additionally, advancements in unmanned systems, counter-drone technology, and cybersecurity operations will be highlighted during the parade, alongside new combat drones and electronic warfare instruments.
Major General Wu also mentioned that a range of sophisticated weapons, including hypersonic munitions and intercontinental ballistic missiles designed for strategic deterrence, will be showcased. He pointed out that these weapons embody significant advancements in automation and information technology and are reflective of China's goals to bolster its military capabilities for future conflicts.
The parade will see participation from 45 marching units, ground weapon groups, and aircraft squadrons. Wu emphasized that many units have historical ties to the War of Resistance against Japanese aggression. Furthermore, this year will be notable as it features participation from the Aerospace Force, Cyberspace Force, Information Support Force, and Joint Logistics Support Force for the first time.
Moreover, Major General Xu Guizhong of the PLA Central Theater Command highlighted that the training leading up to the parade has been utilized to elevate the combat readiness and operational skills of the troops. Employing the Beidou Navigation Satellite System for training evaluations has enhanced the efficiency of preparations, allowing commanders to strengthen joint operational capabilities ahead of the event.
