The National Energy Administration (NEA) of China has announced that by the end of last year, the clean heating rate in northern areas had climbed to 83 percent, contributing to enhanced air quality in these regions. The NEA plans to continue its collaboration with pertinent departments, urging local governments to investigate new models and business formats for clean heating. They will also provide guidance to various stakeholders on how to engage in investment and operational aspects of clean heating projects, while promoting technologies that are both clean and efficient.
Since 2017, China has incorporated 88 cities into its program that supports clean heating initiatives. According to the NEA, choosing the right clean heating technologies is essential for achieving sustainable development in these northern regions. The administration also intends to assist provinces by helping them select a variety of clean heating technology options that are well-suited to their specific needs.
