An 18-year-old from Oshawa, Ontario, has found himself in serious legal trouble following a tragic accident that resulted in the death of Andrew Cristillo, a father of three. This incident occurred on August 3 in Whitchurch-Stouffville, leaving his widow, Christina Cristillo, and their daughters with injuries. She shared heartfelt memories of her husband, emphasizing his role as an exceptional father who was always engaged with their daughters, bringing joy and laughter to their lives. Tragically, she herself is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the driver involved in the head-on collision, identified as Jaiwin Kirubananthan, fled the scene but was apprehended not long afterward. Kirubananthan faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving causing death, as well as three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and failing to remain at the scene, which resulted in a fatality. Interestingly, OPP confirmed that Kirubananthan was also involved in a separate incident in January where a car he was driving collided with a vehicle carrying Premier Doug Ford. Ford was returning from an event at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station when his vehicle was sideswiped during the incident.

Failing to stop? Shameful. He prioritized his own safety over the lives of others.

My heart breaks for the Cristillo family. This young man stole a father, a husband, from them.

He ran. Shows no remorse. Time for the courts to do the right thing.
