Wildfires are posing a significant threat to communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, prompting evacuation alerts for thousands of residents. The capital city, St. John's, is among the areas most affected.
On Tuesday, approximately 5,400 residents in two areas of St. John's were advised to prepare for potential evacuation. This followed alerts issued the previous day to roughly 15,000 people in the neighboring communities of Paradise and Conception Bay South.
The wildfire's proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway was a major concern, with the blaze reported to be only about 250 meters away on Tuesday evening.
To assist with the situation, the Canadian Armed Forces and the coast guard have been deployed to provide essential supplies and support to the affected areas.
Currently, the province is battling nine active wildfires, with at least four of them classified as being out of control.

What about the animals? Are they being taken care of? This is heartbreaking.
