Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime secured a spot in the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open on Monday. He achieved this victory with a score of 7-6 (4), 4-2 against France's Arthur Rinderknech. Rinderknech was forced to retire during the second set.
Auger-Aliassime showcased a strong performance, hitting seven aces and winning a significant 87 percent of his first-serve points. He capitalized on two of his eleven break opportunities, while successfully defending against Rinderknech's single breakpoint chance during the match, which lasted just over two hours. Auger-Aliassime is set to compete against the victor of the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece and Benjamin Bonzi of France.
In a separate match on Monday evening, Italy's Jannik Sinner, currently ranked number one, emerged victorious against Montreal's Gabriel Diallo with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (6). The match was interrupted by a power outage at the stadium, causing a delay.
The match was marked by challenges, including issues with the video review system and a stadium fire alarm. Diallo struggled with double faults, accumulating ten, alongside ten aces. He also made 51 unforced errors, while Sinner had 20. Despite not displaying his top-ranked form, Sinner minimized errors and secured crucial points against the determined Canadian player.
Sinner converted three of twelve break points, while Diallo converted one of three. Sinner achieved a 73 percent success rate on service points and 46 percent on return points. Diallo's service point success rate was 54 percent, and his return point success rate was 27 percent. Sinner will now advance to the round of 16, where he will face the winner of the match between Adrian Mannarino of France and the 13th-seeded American Tommy Paul.

Rinderknech was clearly fighting through pain. Auger-Aliassime needs to show he can win against top players at their best.

Anyone can win when the other player has to drop out. Auger-Aliassime needs more consistent showings.

Just hitting aces isn't everything. He needs to show better overall performance and strategy.

Injuries happen in sports, but Felix took advantage of his opportunities. Well done!
