Kentucky Factory Gets $2 Billion Upgrade for Affordable, High-Performance EVs

Ford is investing nearly $2 billion to convert a Kentucky factory to produce more affordable and profitable electric vehicles, aiming to outperform rivals. The Louisville Assembly Plant will shift from gas-powered vehicles to EVs, with a midsize electric pickup truck planned for 2027.

Ford sees EVs as the future, despite industry challenges. The new trucks will offer ample space and performance, using lower-cost batteries from a Michigan factory. This is a pivotal moment for Ford's EV business, transforming U.S. manufacturing.

A universal platform will streamline production, cutting costs and assembly time. The goal is an affordable, profitable EV, modernizing U.S. plants. The investment secures 2,200 jobs and strengthens the partnership with Kentucky.

Ford is also investing in a Michigan battery plant, creating nearly 4,000 jobs and strengthening the domestic supply chain. The company is focused on building a sustainable, profitable EV business, with the Kentucky-built truck designed to be a superior solution.

The infrastructure for EVs just isn’t ready yet. Why risk thousands of jobs to push something that isn't widely adopted?
