In the region of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, a serious forest fire has been burning in the Burnt River area since Friday, as reported by city officials. As of Sunday, approximately 27 hectares of forest, which equates to over a quarter of a square kilometer, have been engulfed in flames in a community situated northeast of Toronto.
Firefighters from the city, along with crews from the Trent Lakes Fire Service and the Ministry of Natural Resources from the Haliburton region, are actively working to control the fire. To support their efforts, additional resources have been dispatched from North Bay, and aerial water bombers are being used to concentrate on the most intense sections of the fire.
The blaze is occurring in a densely forested zone that has been compromised by damage from an ice storm, creating unsafe conditions for deploying fire hoses. Though no evacuations have been mandated at this time, city officials are strongly advising both residents and visitors to steer clear of the affected area, leading to the closure of County Road 49 between County Road 121 and Bury’s Green Road.

How long until this fire is truly under control? I hope it doesn’t spread further.
