Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White reported on Monday that star guard Caitlin Clark is making progress in her recovery from a right groin injury. However, Clark has not yet returned to practice.
Clark has been sidelined since sustaining the injury during the final minute of a game against Connecticut on July 15th. Team officials have already confirmed her absence from Tuesday's game against the Dallas Wings.
There is currently no specific timeline for Clark's return to the court. Coach White indicated that Clark has increased her full-court running, gradually building up her endurance. While she's been able to do more on the court in terms of movement, she is not yet ready for practice.
Clark's season has been hampered by injuries, with three different muscle injuries causing her to miss 19 of 32 games. Despite these absences, Indiana has maintained a strong record without her, including a successful run in recent games. The team has also faced additional setbacks with season-ending injuries to guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald.
Despite the challenges, Indiana secured a significant victory over the Chicago Sky on Saturday. To address the team's needs, the Fever signed Odyssey Sims to a hardship contract on Sunday. Sims brings experience and a history of solid performance to the team.
Before her injury, Clark, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, was averaging impressive numbers in points, assists, and rebounds. The Fever invested heavily in building a strong supporting cast around Clark during the offseason. Despite the injuries, Indiana holds a competitive record and remains in contention for a favorable position in the league standings.

How can Coach White say the team is fine without Clark? They can’t win consistently.

The Fever's management needs to rethink their strategy if they can’t keep their team healthy.
