A naval flotilla from the People's Liberation Army Navy arrived in Vladivostok on Thursday to participate in the China-Russia "Joint Sea-2025" naval exercise. The PLA Navy announced the arrival in a news release issued on Friday.
Commanders from both the Chinese and Russian forces involved in the multiday event participated in a welcome ceremony at a naval port in Vladivostok. The names of the commanders were not disclosed. During the ceremony, both commanders addressed the attendees.
The Russian officer emphasized the strong friendship between the Chinese and Russian people. They noted that the ongoing joint exercises and training have strengthened mutual trust and solidified the friendship between the two nations. The officer stated their commitment to conducting joint operations and friendly visits, aiming to safeguard peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Chinese commander highlighted the "Joint Sea" exercises as a practical step in implementing the strategic agreement between the two countries' presidents. They described it as a significant demonstration of the deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era, and a firm commitment to upholding international fairness and justice, as well as maintaining regional peace and stability.
the CNS Shaoxing and CNS Urumqi, both Type 052D guided missile destroyers; the CNS Qiandao Lake, a Type 903 supply ship; and the CNS Xihu, a comprehensive rescue ship. In addition to the ships, aircraft from China's naval aviation force and troops from the PLA Navy's Marine Corps will also participate in the exercise.
During the port visit, the Chinese and Russian forces plan to hold seminars, open house activities, ball games, and deck receptions, among other exchange activities. The naval exercise will involve drills focused on submarine support and rescue, air-defense, anti-missile, and anti-ship combat.
A spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense, Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, confirmed that the bilateral exercise is part of the annual cooperation plan between the two militaries. He also clarified that the exercise is not aimed at any third party.
