On Saturday, London's Metropolitan Police reported that at least 365 individuals were arrested during a protest. The demonstration was in support of Palestine Action, an organization that was designated as a terrorist group in July. The police made the announcement on social media.
The police estimated that approximately 500 to 600 people were present in Parliament Square when the protest commenced. Authorities stated that anyone in the square displaying a placard in support of Palestine Action was either arrested or in the process of being arrested.
In addition to the arrests related to supporting Palestine Action, seven other arrests were made for different offenses. These included five arrests for assaulting police officers.
Separately, the Metropolitan Police issued a warning regarding a "National March for the Hostages" scheduled for Sunday in central London. This march was organized by Stop the Hate and several Jewish organizations.
The decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group followed a vote by Members of Parliament in July. This action was taken after members of the group broke into Royal Air Force Brize Norton in June. During the incident, they sprayed two Voyager aircraft with red paint, resulting in approximately 7 million pounds (9.38 million U.S. dollars) worth of damage. Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the incident.

It’s about time the government took action against these radicals. We need to ensure safety for everyone.

Police brutality is what we should be focusing on, not the protest itself. This is just another form of oppression.

Why are we arresting people for holding placards? This is an attack on democracy!

Freedom of speech doesn’t include endorsing terrorist activity. The police are right to arrest these individuals.

The response to this protest is an overreaction. If they claim to support human rights, they should listen.
