When asked to lead the Department of Justice Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, I accepted with gratitude. This mission is personal. As a 35-year civil rights attorney, I understand the historical bond between Black and Jewish Americans, and I honor those who fought for equality. The fight against antisemitism is an American issue.
The previous administration largely ignored rising antisemitism. The Trump administration made combating it a priority, confronting it on American campuses. Federal funding freezes have forced schools to address antisemitic conduct. Jewish students deserve safety.
Antisemitism is also spilling into the streets. The task force ensures those responsible for violence face justice. Jewish communities pay extra for security, a "Jewish tax" that insults equal rights. My task force will address this.
Permanent safeguards are needed to protect Jewish Americans. This is a 24/7 mission to defend victims and secure a future free from fear. The forces driving antisemitism target the United States itself. Defeating them is a fight for every American's safety.

I support fighting hate, but I worry about the selective attention given to antisemitism while ignoring other forms of discrimination.

This is just another example of prioritizing one group's struggle over others. Why aren't we addressing all forms of hate equally?

This administration's focus on antisemitism feels like a distraction from its failures in other areas, especially regarding racial injustice.

A dedicated task force will help highlight the growing concern over antisemitism and provide necessary protections.
