On Thursday, Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council (NDSC) announced the formation of a new union government and a State Security and Peace Commission. This information was reported by the state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).
The newly formed union government will be headed by U Nyo Saw, who will serve as prime minister. The State Security and Peace Commission will be chaired by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Furthermore, the NDSC made the decision to revoke the order that had previously transferred sovereign power to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
According to Zaw Min Tun, a spokesperson for Myanmar's State Administration Council, the NDSC's decision also included ending the state of emergency with the intention of holding general elections.
In February 2021, a one-year state of emergency was declared by the then-Acting President U Myint Swe. At that time, sovereign power was transferred to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services. Following this, the State Administration Council was established, with Min Aung Hlaing as its chairman. The NDSC had previously extended the state of emergency multiple times, each for a period of six months, with the final extension expiring on July 31st of this year.

MRTV reporting? That's like getting news from a propaganda factory. No credibility whatsoever.

This is just a sham to legitimize the junta's control. Nothing to celebrate here.

It's a good thing that the government is being led by a known and trusted figure.

How can we trust them after what they've done? The brutality speaks volumes.
