Bali Boat Capsizing Claims Lives of Chinese Nationals, Sparks Investigation

The Chinese consulate general in Denpasar, Bali, confirmed that two Chinese nationals lost their lives in a fast boat capsizing accident off the coast of Bali Island. The consulate has confirmed the identities of the deceased tourists and has been in contact with their families, offering assistance in managing the aftermath. Injured Chinese nationals who were hospitalized following the incident were later discharged.

Indonesian Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi expressed his condolences for the "Bali Dolphin Cruise 2" speedboat accident in Sanur. He pledged a prompt response and investigation by the authorities.

The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office reported that the accident occurred around 3 pm local time. The fast boat "Dolphin 2" was struck by large waves while en route from Nusa Penida Port to Sanur Port in Bali Province. The vessel capsized near its destination. The boat was carrying 75 passengers, including 73 foreign tourists, and five crew members. The accident resulted in two fatalities and one missing person, while 77 others were rescued.

Following the accident, the Chinese consulate activated its emergency response mechanism, maintained close communication with Indonesian authorities, and worked to address related matters. The consulate issued a warning to Chinese nationals in the region, advising them to be cautious of extreme weather conditions, such as strong winds and high waves, which have been common recently. They were urged to monitor weather updates, enhance safety awareness, and check travel conditions beforehand. In the event of extreme weather, they were advised to avoid water-related activities and follow the guidance of tourism management departments. In emergencies, they were encouraged to contact the police and the Chinese consulate for assistance.
