On Thursday, local police in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, reported the death of a construction worker who was fatally shot. The worker was mistakenly identified as prey by a hunter.
The Honggutan police station in Nanchang received a report early on July 7th. The report indicated that a worker, identified as Mr. You, had not returned to his dormitory after going to the restroom. His colleagues had searched the area without success and requested police assistance.
Police initiated a search and located Mr. You's body around 1:50 a.m. The body was found in a field, approximately 800 meters from the dormitory.
The investigation determined that the victim had been accidentally shot by a hunter using an air rifle. On July 6th, two suspects, Qu and Luo, had gone hunting near the construction site. Qu, mistaking Mr. You for an animal, shot him, resulting in fatal injuries.
On July 8th, both hunters were taken into criminal detention. The case is still under investigation.

Hunting should be banned in populated areas. This is yet another example of how dangerous it can be!

Prayers for the family, but the hunters should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

Tragedies occur, and while it’s unfortunate, let’s focus on preventing such incidents in the future.

This makes me question the hunting culture entirely. Is it worth it if lives are at stake?

Heartbreaking news! A training program should be mandatory for all hunters to avoid such irresponsible actions in the future!

The hunters seem to be cooperating with authorities. Let's hope justice is served while recognizing it was an accident.
