Cambodian police have confirmed the murder of two Chinese nationals in Preah Sihanouk Province, with their bodies discovered in the Basaac River in Kandal Province. The victims, Zhang Ruju, aged 43, and Dong Yuanyuan, aged 39, were last seen on July 18 at a hotel in Sihanoukville, and their bodies were recovered on July 23.
A prompt investigation was initiated by local and national police forces, resulting in the swift identification of suspects. On July 31, three Chinese men were apprehended near an expressway in Sihanoukville, followed by the arrest of four more suspects just days later in Phnom Penh.
All seven suspects have been moved to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Department, where they will face further investigation and legal proceedings. In response to these incidents, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia expressed serious concern and called for a rigorous inquiry to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in the region, highlighting the increase in violent crimes targeting this community.

How long will it take for this case to go through the proper channels? Will there be any long-term solutions?

Is the police force actually equipped and trained to effectively deal with this? I have my doubts.

This is a symptom of a larger issue. Organized crime? Corruption? We need more information.

So many Chinese nationals are going missing. This is a trend and it's deeply unsettling.

Another example of unchecked crime. Where's the police presence? What's being done to protect people?

A prompt investigation is key right now. Let's let the judicial process run its course.
