Paris Saint-Germain saw nine of its players nominated for the men's Ballon d'Or this year. The club's coach, Luis Enrique, also received a nomination. The announcement was made by France Football on Thursday.
The list of 30 players vying for the prestigious award includes Ousmane Dembele, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, and Vitinha.
Dembele's impressive performance included 35 goals and 16 assists across all competitions. His contributions were key as PSG secured the Ligue 1 title, the French Cup, and the Champions League. The team also reached the Club World Cup final, finishing as runners-up.
Other notable nominees include Raphinha from Barcelona, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, and Manchester City's Erling Haaland. Scott McTominay, recognized as Serie A's Most Valuable Player, also earned a nomination, marking the first time a Scottish player has been shortlisted in 38 years.
Lamine Yamal of Barcelona, an 18-year-old winger, was also nominated. He is also a contender for the Kopa Trophy, which recognizes the best Under-21 player.
In the women's category, five England players were nominated for the Ballon d'Or following their Euros victory. The nominees include goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, Lucy Bronze, Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly, and Leah Williamson. Marta, who returned from retirement to lead Brazil to the women's Copa America title, was also nominated.
For the men's Coach of the Year award, Luis Enrique is joined by Enzo Maresca and Arne Slot. The women's coach nominees include Sonia Bompastor, Renee Slegers, and Sarina Wiegman.
