Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky in person as negotiations for a peace agreement in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war continue. This statement comes amidst efforts by both sides to reach a resolution.
Previously, a Kremlin advisor had downplayed the possibility of a summit between the two leaders. The advisor had only confirmed that a bilateral meeting between Putin and Donald Trump was being planned.
Despite the initial skepticism, Putin told reporters that he was open to a meeting with Zelensky. However, he emphasized that certain conditions must be met before such a meeting could occur, suggesting that significant progress in the peace talks is still needed.
Putin also mentioned that there was mutual interest in a summit with the United States. He indicated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could be a suitable location for such a meeting. The US President had reportedly agreed to a US-Russia summit on the condition that Putin would also engage in direct talks with Zelensky.

Putin is just looking for ways to deflect attention from his failures in Ukraine.

This could be the first step towards de-escalation and understanding between the two nations.

It’s absurd to think dialogue with Putin will lead to peace; his actions speak louder than his words.
